SIM CANOEING CLUB WAS ESTABLISHED IN NOVEMBER 2007
Mission
SIM Canoeing represents the interests of students in SIM, in the management, coordination and promotion of canoe related activities and competitions. SIM Canoeing aims to bring out the best of its members, in canoeing, studies and in every aspect of our lives. We aim to win!
Objectives
- To promote canoeing in Singapore, nurture and prepare potential canoeists representing SIM to take part in competitions, uphold high standards of sportsmanship, to do SIM proud and most importantly, to do yourselves proud!
- We only want people who are interested and have passion for the sport.
- We want people who are willing to push their limits and challenge themselves.
- We want people who are willing to commit.
The Canoeing Team was once part of the SEA Sports Club. After the Sea Sports Club had disbanded, the Canoeing Team was set up in November 2007, with an initial membership of 5. From then on, the club has steadily grown in strength to a size of around 30 and growing. Since then, the club has changed its former focus from only 1 star courses to competitive rowing. Ever since, the club has participated in numerous competitions and has created a name for SIM in the canoeing fraternity in Singapore, with the club bagging home some medals.
